چکیده

This study investigates the problems associated with lung sound recognition under noisy conditions. Firstly, the effects of noise on the lung sound feature representation and the classification performance are analyzed. Two kinds of feature representations, autoregressive and mel-frequency cepstral coefficients, are used to characterize the lung sound signals. Dynamic time warping is used to categorize the lung sounds to one of the three: normal, wheezes, or crackles. Our experimental results indicate that additive noise produces a mismatch between training and recognition environments and deteriorates the classification performance with a decrease in the SNR levels. In order to compensate the degrading effect of noise on the lung sound recognition, a dual sensor spectral subtraction algorithm is applied to the lung sound signals before the extraction of lung sound features. It is observed that the proposed algorithm is capable of providing adequate performance in terms of noise suppression and lung sound signal enhancement.

Speech Emotion Recognition Based on Power Normalized Cepstral Coefficients in Noisy Conditions

Automatic recognition of speech emotional states in noisy conditions has become an important research topic in the emotional speech recognition area, in recent years. This paper considers the recognition of emotional states via speech in real environments. For this task, we employ the power normalized cepstral coefficients (PNCC) in a speech emotion recognition system. We investigate its perfor...

An evaluation of adaptive beamformer based on average speech spectrum for noisy speech recognition

Distant-talking speech recognition in noisy environments is indispensable for self-moving robots or tele-conference systems. However, background noise and room reverberations seriously degrade the sound-capture quality in real acoustic environments. A microphone array is an ideal candidate as an effective method for capturing distant-talking speech. AMNOR (Adaptive Microphone-array for NOise Re...

Selective deficits in human audition: evidence from lesion studies

The human auditory cortex is the gateway to the most powerful and complex communication systems and yet relatively little is known about its functional organization as compared to the visual system. Several lines of evidence, predominantly from recent studies, indicate that sound recognition and sound localization are processed in two at least partially independent networks. Evidence from human...

Single-Channel Multiple Regression for In-Car Speech Enhancement

We address issues for improving hands-free speech enhancement and speech recognition performance in different car environments using a single distant microphone. This paper describes a new singlechannel in-car speech enhancement method that estimates the log spectra of speech at a close-talking microphone based on the nonlinear regression of the log spectra of noisy signal captured by a distant...
